Do you want to make cleaning the house a lot easier? If cleaning isn’t your favorite thing to do, but you know it must get done, you should try some of these convenient and simple household cleaning hacks that will make your job a whole lot easier.
Use a Sock on Your Swiffer Sweeper
If you’ve noticed your home is quite dusty, you’d probably like to get rid of the dust as quickly as possible. However, if you’re all out of both wet and dry dusters that attach to your Swiffer Sweeper, you can use a large sock. Open the sock and place the bottom of the Swiffer Sweeper inside of it. Start wiping away at dust on different services, including the walls, tables, and countertops with ease.
You can dispose of the sock when you’re done with it. If you want to use it again, simply throw it in the sink and wash the dirt and dust off before setting it out to dry. It’s a great substitute for those dry dusters and it’s completely reusable.
Scrub Chrome Fixtures With Lemon Wedges
Noticing a few spots on some of your chrome bathroom fixtures, including the sink faucet and the shower head? Instead of scrubbing them down with cleanser and a rag, there is an easy way to clean off those spots and get your chrome to sparkle once again.
Simply grab a lemon, cut it into a handful of wedges, and then gently rub the lemon wedges against these different fixtures. The acidity of the lemon takes those spots right off without damaging the beautiful fixtures.
Make Your Own Multi-Purpose Cleanser
If you need to clean several areas of the home, you should have a multi-purpose cleanser ready to use. Instead of going out and purchasing one, you can make your own with a handful of ingredients that you likely already have. In fact, you can make one of these cleansers by combining a cup of water with equal parts vinegar, ½ cup hydrogen peroxide, and 10 drops of orange essential oil.
After combining these different ingredients together, you’ll have the perfect multi-purpose cleanser that smells like oranges while lifting dirt and removing stains from all different types of surfaces.
Quickly Clean Out the Microwave in Minutes
When you open to door to your microwave, is it a complete mess? You may have spent quite a lot of time trying to scrub out all the leftover food residue found inside the microwave. If you’re struggling to get it clean, pour a cup of water into a microwave-safe bowl, add a few sliced limes to the bowl, and then put it in the microwave for at least two minutes. Remove the bowl and then grab a towel to quickly wipe away the residue left behind that will now come off so easily.
If you’re like me, and like to have a little laugh while you clean, try using the “Angry Mom” when you clean your microwave. Not only will she do a great job, but you can have a little giggle while the angry mom spouts off at the head.
The steam comes out of mama’s head and softens microwave dirt and stains for easier cleaning. To use, remove her head, add water, vinegar and microwave for about 7 minutes and boom, all clean. If you are an oily like me, add a few drops of lemon or orange oil to freshen up and get ready of any odors that build up in your microwave. Plus, she’s dishwasher safe, so just pop her in when you are done.
Clean Your Blender Fast
Blenders are so hard to clean by hand. Once your done making dinner or drinks, add a few drops of dish detergent and a half a cup of water and turn the blender back on. Boom! Everything is cleaned and you can now just rinse the soap out.
Deep Clean Your Washing Machine
You may be asking yourself if your washing machine really needs to be cleaned, but I promise it does. Washing machines harbor all types of your family’s yuck, so every once in awhile it needs to be cleaned itself. My two favorite options are either a quart of plain vinegar or a few tablespoons of borax, then run a regular cycle on hot. Leaving the lid open when not in use will also help minimize odor build up.
These household cleaning hacks can save you a lot of time. If you want to make sure your home looks good and you don’t want to spend all day cleaning, gives these hacks a try.
